Job Summary

Under the division of University Marketing & Communications (UMAC), Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Senior Designer is a leadership role within Marketing Communications, charged with designing national and international brand and enrollment campaigns to position Drexel as an R1 research institution and experiential education leader in a competitive marketplace. The Senior Designer must be an excellent communicator both verbally and in visual design to understand and translate the overall Drexel brand and more specific messaging for a wide range and volume of marketing materials for Drexel’s Division of University Marketing and Communications. The Senior Designer will own assignments and will see them through to final deliverable with little supervision. The Senior Designer supervises junior staff, outside vendors, agencies, printers, photographers/videographers, and other creative partners.

The Senior Designer must be experienced to design in multiple creative platforms (print, on-line, video, and mixed media) and to work collaboratively with writers and other creative partners to create final work, which is coherent, aesthetically appropriate, and consistent with the Drexel brand and messaging. The centrality of this role will also require strategic creative oversight and guidance of Drexel’s web presence and experience at the enterprise level, focusing on ensuring consistency across the University’s digital footprint. The Senior Designer will lead in presenting completed work for strategic partners and stakeholders and may lead cross-departmental brainstorming sessions.

Essential Functions

Lead the development of marketing and creative strategies while maintaining consistent brand messaging and tone across all communications, including advertising campaign and direct marketing communications plans. Oversee the strategic creative execution of web development and design at the enterprise level with a focus on enrollment and retention and University brand integration and presence. Execute marketing and creative strategies into specific electronic and print final deliverables serving as a primary lead on major, complex print production projects. Serve as the primary lead and mentor staff on managing print and production vendors, photographers, videographers, and press checks. Oversee several creative collaboration organizations at the Drexel University enterprise level which will investigate/research emerging trends in creative strategy and execution and organize and align the University on approaches in creative brand representation. Led regular project development reporting and creative presentations to senior leadership and colleges/programs/administrative stakeholders and ensure appropriate follow-up. Collaborate with IT and operations projects specific to their business. Supervise creative staff – including training, development, task management and evaluations. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in marketing or business with a concentration in marketing, design or other related specialization, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from a minimum of $54,630.00 to a maximum of $81,940.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
