Senior Geologist - Stratigrapher (Denver)

The Senior Geologistwill lead environmental remedial investigation and stratigraphy projects throughout their life cycle, adapting plans according to budget constraints, design factors and/or client needs. The successful candidate should have a strong technical background in geology (stratigraphy, geomorphology, and/or sedimentology) as well as significant remediation investigation, consulting and project execution experience. The work required includes integration of complex, multigenerational, spatial and analytical data sets to develop and communicate the holistic conceptual site models that guide current and future groundwater remediation.

Conduct research and analysis of the regional geology and depositional environments related to a project site. This includes identifying appropriate facies models that represent subsurface conditions.Apply Environmental Sequence Stratigraphic (ESS) methodology to complex data sets consisting of lithologic borings, down hole, and surficial geophysical data (including but not limited to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Gamma and e-logs, Electrical Conductivity/Hydraulic Profiling Tool, Seismic, and ground penetrating radar).Work with project hydrogeologist to evaluate potentiometric data, define hydrostratigraphic units, and understand implications for contaminant fate and transportPlan and develop appropriate stratigraphic cross section profiles including evaluation of individual boring logs and application of graphic grainsize logs (GSLs) coding.Perform stratigraphic interpretation of subsurface: Integrate the knowledge of regional geology, depositional environments, and facies models to make geologically-sound interpretations and correlations between data points.Create and communicate geologically based conceptual site models using a variety of hard copy and digital platformsAssess soil and groundwater data, identify data gaps and develop appropriate soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results.Conduct proposal and report writing for environmental based projectsPrepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.Apply expert knowledge of commonly used environmental concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the environmental consulting services industry.Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard solutions.Lead preparation of work plans, investigation reports, feasibility studies, remedial design, and implementation.Participate in the development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning, and construction planning.Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the environmental engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced Geoscientists.Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.Responsible for effective communication with other environmental and engineering disciplines.Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies. All other duties as assigned.
