ResponsibilitiesThe Senior General Accountant will report directly to the Controller. This position will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial information, reporting and analysis. This position will also be involved in budgeting, reporting and compliance, and audits. The Senior Accountant must possess a solid knowledge of accounting and GAAP reporting, pay close attention to detail. The candidate must display integrity and have a desire for professional growth.
Maintain monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation, research outstanding items and variancesPrepare quarterly statistical & tax reporting compliance with state regulationsReconcile data to the general ledger and automated journal entriesAssist in Sarbanes Oxley testing and submissionProvide reports and support items per external auditors’ requestsAssist with compilation of Quarterly CFO Narrative Report data and chartsAssist with ad hoc projects as business Personal Property Rendition reports for CO and HCADAssist with quarterly journal entriesDashboard ReportingParticipate and assist with budgeting processPrepare Schedule P quarterlyPrepare insured financial reviews providing analysis and commentary, including recommendationsSpecial projects as assigned by Manager Qualifications 4 to 6 years of job-related experience in general ledger accounting2 to 3 years of reinsurance experience preferredStrong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, knowledge of macros is a plusInsurance industry knowledge is a plusExcellent analytical skills, able to research and resolve issues quickly and independentlyAbility to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staffAbility and skillset to use critical thinking tools when preforming job dutiesAbility to effectively work in a fast-pace environment with competing demands on resources, time and priorities
