Senior Fund Accountant
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join our client in the Administration Industry in Johannesburg. The Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounting operations of our investment funds and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investment fund accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to lead a team effectively.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our investment funds, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions, and adherence to accounting principles and guidelines. Prepare and review financial statements, including management reports, fund valuations, and investor reporting. Reconcile cash and investment balances, ensuring accuracy and proper recording in the general ledger. Coordinate and manage the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and fund administrators. Perform detailed analysis of investment portfolios and prepare portfolio performance reports for internal and external stakeholders. Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, including statutory reporting, tax filings, and investment restrictions. Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring ongoing adherence to best practices and compliance standards. Collaborate with internal teams, such as legal and compliance, to ensure adherence to investment guidelines and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting operations. Train and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development. Monitor the performance and productivity of the fund accounting team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification such as CA (SA) Significant experience (5+ years) in investment fund accounting, preferably within the Administration Industry. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with expertise in fund accounting and financial reporting. Sound understanding of regulatory requirements, including IFRS, GAAP, and relevant industry guidelines. Proficient in using fund accounting systems and software, including experience with investment performance measurement tools. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends or anomalies. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with accounting software.
