The Role:
Here at General Motors, we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Systems Engineering Team! Functional Calibration Specialists work with our systems engineering and software development teams to support the creation of new features and content. They are a critical piece of the development process responsible for both up front development of the features calibration specific requirements and also testing new features during the development process prior to our release to the broader development community. These calibrators cover all of the technical subject matter areas that a PMT is responsible for, so broad calibration and system function knowledge is preferred.
Depending on the area of responsibility, a Calibrator may focus more heavily on engine controls, serial data, platform interface, or diagnostic calibration functionality. These are meaningful roles that ensure the powertrain integration to vehicles performs at world class levels to meet program objectives. Functional Calibration Specialists will be members of one of several technical Product Management Teams, which consist of Functional System Architects, Calibration Technical Specialists and also Sub System Lead Engineers. These teams are responsible for several areas of the engine or transmission controls software and calibrations. They are responsible for the end to end management of their technical areas all the way from system concept and requirements through to the release of the software to the individual calibration teams.
What You'll Do
This is a calibration position where the technical complexity, program scope, and program breadth combine to create a challenging role. Multiple cross-system interactions exist in this role, interpersonal interfaces are required, and our teams work on projects across the globe. The ideal candidate has some experience motivating others, can manage multiple projects and deadlines, and has experience with several vehicle systems/component domains.
