Senior Full Stack Engineer

The Search Team is at the heart of the Compass Engineering organization, driving the search capabilities across our suite of real estate tools. This team is responsible for ingesting listing data and providing it through REST APIs that serve various front-end components on our website and mobile apps. Their work encompasses everything from finding and paginating listings to sorting, clustering, and boosting search results, both in list and map views.

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who will own and enhance our Map Search experience. You will build new features and functionality, boost performance, and increase the reliability and accuracy of our Map Search results, all while keeping cost efficiency in mind.

Work closely with Product, Design, and adjacent Engineering teams to deliver business critical features to our customers

What We Look For:

BS or MS in CS or EE, or equivalent. 7+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested, and high-performance applications. Proficiency in Java. Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript on the server side and browser. Basic experience with react. Basic experience working with any geospatial library on the server side. Basic knowledge and interest in working with geospatial math. Experience designing and extending large-scale systems, including RESTful APIs, microservice architectures, and data ingestion methods. A track record as a technical leader with cross-team impact. Understanding and adherence to industry-standard best practices in software development and architecture. Familiarity with AWS services, including S3, EKS, Redis, Lambda, and MSK. Experience with Go and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch is a plus.

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $131,000-$197,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
