**Description**
SAIC is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer in Indianapolis.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs embedded applications software and systems that require low level control processing (Interrupts, Timers Digital I/O and serial communication protocols) for electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic equipment. Develops embedded software for use in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) for military applications. Requires basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
LIASON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
**Qualifications**
REQUIRED SKILLS:
+ Proficient application of technical principles, theories, and concepts associated with FPGA design
+ Advanced FPGA coding skills and languages, including but not limited to, VHDL, Verilog, etc
+ Advanced knowledge of FPGA development tools, including but not limited to, Xilinx Vivado, Microsemi Libero, etc
+ Familiarity with FPGA simulation tools, including but not limited to, Active-HDL, ModelSim, etc
+ Must work well in team environment with ability to self-manage time
DESIRED SKILLS (NOT REQUIRED):
+ Willingness and ability to work multiple programs
+ Familiarity with related disciplines, including but not limited to, microcontrollers, PWB schematics, design and test reports, etc
+ Familiarity with military standards, including but not limited to, MIL-STD-1553, SAE AS5652 (EBR-1553), etc
+ Familiarity with embedded safety processes, including but not limited to, MIL-STD-882, DO-178, DO-254, etc
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor's degree and five (5) years or more experience; master's degree and three (3) years of more experience; PhD and 0 years of experience
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
+ U.S. citizenship required
+ Must possess or have ability to obtain a security clearance at Secret or higher
