The Role

Following significant growth, with particular focus on Mission Critical / Data Centres, we have a newly created opportunity for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team, based in Melbourne.

In the role of Senior Fire Protection Engineer, we’ll count on you to:

Utilise your strong technical background in fire engineering to plan, design and execute building services projects.Manage and coordinate the fire protection portions of complex projects.Provide expertise and guidance on complex fire protection projects.Independently evaluate, select and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures to make decisions on a broad range of fire protection issues.Support project leaders and project directors across a range of projects and disciplines.Manage project timelines, budgets and resources to deliver successful project outcomes.Prepare and check technical reports, drawings and specifications in accordance with industry standards and regulations.Take responsibility for all aspects of the work, including drawings and specifications, meeting schedules and budgets, and directing assigned staff.Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters.Monitor the schedule and budgets for projects.Review and summarise applicable codes and records them for inclusion in the design record.Coordinate with team members, clients, contractors and any external consultants during the design process. Attend and lead project meetings where required.Maintain good client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.Document fire services design in Revit.Carry out detailed design, production of tender documents, site snagging and witness testing.Liaise with the design team to co-ordinate detailed designs and agree manufacturers and samples.Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements. Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.Implement requirements for ISO9001,45001 and ISO14001 as needed.Assist or execute any additional Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project.Preferred Qualifications 5 years’ relevant industry experience.FPAS Accreditation, or ability to obtain.Mission Critical Design / Data Centre Design Experience will be highly advantageous.High level proficiency in CAD, Revit and Bluebeam software.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Highly organised with strong attention to detail.Ability to work independently as well as part of a growing team.Experience and willingness to mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license Previous experience in commercial or institutional facilities Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
