Senior Financial Analyst – Disney Music Group
As part of the Studio Entertainment segment of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), Disney Music Group (DMG) serves as the central hub for music within TWDC, overseeing all facets of music monetization. This includes Recorded Music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music in both physical and digital formats and licenses it globally across various media, including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The primary responsibility of this position is financial planning, analysis, and reporting for DMG’s Recorded Music and Music Publishing business expenses, covering areas such as marketing, artist & repertoire (A&R), and royalty expenditures. This role will report directly to the Finance Manager for Disney Music Group.
DUTIES:
Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Forecasts, and 5-Year Strategic Planning for vertical business expenses using CognosCollaborate closely with Marketing and A&R teams to provide strategic oversight and in-depth analysisGenerate weekly marketing reports using Alteryx, quarterly writer P&L reports, and ad-hoc post-mortem analyses for senior management to assess the performance of current business initiativesPartner with Accounting team during quarter-end close to provide variance explanations and assist with the booking of marketing and A&R accrualsDrive process improvement by collaborating with Technology teams to enhance and automate financial processesDemonstrate confidence and curiosity in analyzing large datasets using systems such as SAP, Cognos, Business Objects, and Tableau, while showcasing enthusiasm for data aggregation and visualization tools like Alteryx and Tableau PrepConduct ad-hoc reporting and analysis for various DMG business verticals as neededQUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years of finance or accounting experience, with a strong interest in the entertainment/music industryProven relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate problems autonomously and diplomaticallyExcellent communication and leadership abilities, paired with a constructive curiosity to drive changeFlexibility in responsibilities to adapt to the evolving music industry landscapeAbility to understand complex contracts and decipher financial terms within the agreementsAbility to manage multiple high priority projects under tight deadlinesProficient in Excel for financial modeling and analysisExperience in enterprise level systems such as SAP, Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar systemsSolid working knowledge of key accounting principlesBachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or accountingThe base salary for this position in Burbank is $103,400.00-$126,200.00 A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
