Work Shift

The actual schedule for this position will be quite fluid and will change depending upon events, the University academic or building schedules and available student employee coverage. During peak time this position may work more than 40 hours a week, and morning and extended weekend work will be required. Compensatory time will be awarded for hours in excess of 40.

The standard 40-hour shift for this position is flexible and will begin weekdays between 6:45 am and 10:00 am (candidate availability and work shift preferences will be covered during interview). 

Purpose

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a full time Senior Events Production Manager for the University Unions. The location for this position is the William C. Powers, Jr. (WCP) Student Activity Center, 2201 Speedway, Austin, Texas.   

The Senior Events Production Manager will supervise and support all aspects of the use of audio/visual and media equipment within the WCP Student Activity Center.

Responsibilities include:

Providing university employees, students and faculty with technical assistance support, and guidance.Serving as WCP Student Activity Center contact for assistance with policy, procedure, and orientation on media capabilities and operations. Managing the operation, maintenance and safeguarding of technical assets/equipment of the WCP Student Activity Center.Participating in repair and replacement, preventative maintenance, and inventory control of equipment.Managing, trains and schedules full time staff and student employees who will be employed as part time sound and lighting technicians.Providing expertise and advice to users of the facility on safety, technical characteristics, and other aspects of facility operationsProviding first level support to end users of the AV systems in a timely, student-focused, and friendly manner.Determining necessary technical supports, such as lighting, sound, staging and special needs necessary for events and performances in advance of production dates.Working closely with clients and crew to help plan and execute performances and events with regard to technical needs. This includes attending production meetings and assisting in the supervision of load-ins and set up.Providing production assistance to clients on an as needed basis, including assistance in planning, managing and executing the backstage support of performances.Performing job responsibilities in a safe and secure manner, ensuring the safety of students, staff and patrons, while maintaining the security of the Student Activity Center and its equipment, inventory and occupants; and support safety and health programs to ensure a safe workplace, and to be in compliance with university policy and government regulations.Using a personal computer for accessing University systems, emails, inventory controls, printers, etc., to complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring an efficient and steady flow of information.Driving a university or personal vehicle for errands or transport between the Student Activity Center and the Texas Union.Performing other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Audio Engineering, Technical Theater, R/T/F, or similar field, or Trade school completion with a concentration in Event Production, Media, Audiovisual Systems Integration, or similar field.Five (5) or more years of event production experience operating and maintaining audio and video equipment in a performance/event center environment, including experience providing projection, stage work, lighting, and audio services in a theatrical and meeting room venue.Experience setting up and operating digital and analog sound equipment for live music shows, dance and theatrical productions, and business style expos and lectures.Basic understanding of network protocols and terminology as it relates to AV.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical event production experience in a related field or environment.Experience running audio and lighting for live music and theatrical performances.Experience with live streaming solutions such as OBS software and BMD ATEM Mini Pro Video SwitchersKnowledge of complex integrated building av control systems such as Crestron, ETC, and Biamp.Experience in signal flow, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AV systems.Experience operating/programming an ETC Ion Lighting Console.Knowledge of hanging and focusing of theatrical lighting instruments.Proficient with hand and power tools necessary for equipment repair and installation.Excellent soldering skills.Experience supervising employees. Experience working and interacting with students or faculty in a professional setting. Demonstrated ability to follow through with tasks and projects on time and to completion, with little supervision. Creative problem-solving skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to speak Spanish.Experience working with a varied team of technical production staff members.Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently within a team environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to interact in a professional manner with a broad population and all levels of faculty, staff, and students.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.Ability to lead effectively within a team environment.Effective customer service and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to successfully meet deadlines.

Salary Range

$62,500+ Annually (Depending on qualifications)
