Primary Responsibilities
The candidate must have a background in environmental and related infrastructure development services pertaining to the transmission, renewables, pipelines, and emerging technologies. The position will focus on environmental planning, documentation, permitting, and compliance strategy development and execution for multiple projects and programs across HDR’s portfolio of projects and clients in these industries. The position encompasses five primary roles:
Senior Technical Advisor/Subject Matter ExpertQuality Control ReviewerClient Development, Client Management and Business Planning Staff MentorProject Manager (as needed)In the role of Senior Environmental Scientist, responsibilities will include:
Plan and advise medium- to large-size environmental planning and compliance projects for transmission, renewables, pipelines, and emerging technologies, and other programs as identifiedPrepare, plan and analyze/review Route and Site Permit applications, state EA/EIS, feasibility studies/critical issues analyses, and similar reports/documentsAccomplish work independently and through working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which may include engineers, planners, environmental scientists, attorneys, and real estate expertsPreparing and monitoring scopes and budgets for environmental projects/programsSupport regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertiseBe involved in public participation and agency coordinationSupport development of consistent technical quality across a programMentor for junior and mid-level technical staffInvolvement in business development and client management activities including, scope and fee development, preparation of proposals and presentation delivery.Serve as Project Manager on projects, including developing and managing budgets, schedules, and quality of products, as neededPerform other duties as neededLI-BC1
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environment Science or closely related field 10 years experience in complex environmental planning/compliance projects Demonstrated knowledge of the NEPA processExperience managing large, complex EIS documents for transportation, large facility, land management, or other infrastructure projects Technical expertise in the design, implementation, interpretation and presentation of data for environmental studies and investigations in specialized discipline Proficient with MS Office Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Staff management experience beneficial An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
