Senior Environmental Graphic Designer

Pophouse is seeking a creative and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Environmental Graphic Designer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading large-scale projects for a variety of commercial clients. With a passion for thoughtful design and a dedication to client satisfaction, this person will be instrumental in combining creativity and technical knowledge to provide design excellence for our clients as the visual story tellers of a space. Innovative ideas, advanced communication skills and a positive attitude are required to build and foster relationships with our team and clients.

About the Role

Lead the design of large and small scale custom environmental graphics projects through pre-design, design development, and project coordination Develop design narratives within project teams, with intention and authenticity, with the ability to execute against throughout project lifecycleCreate custom designs for wall coverings, large-format graphics, wayfinding and signage, 2D and 3D fabricated design installations, digital design renderings and mockups Develop expertise on projects based on varying scales of work, scope of projects, and phases of design Interact with clients to understand their existing branding and culture to develop purposeful designs Develop and articulate concepts, layouts and innovative design solutions Lead design critiques and charrettes with design team and senior leadership Manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination to ensure all client goals and objectives are met Establish and maintain ongoing relationships built on trust with external clients, vendors, and other construction disciplines Manage client interaction and decision making related to design intent and lead client presentationsQuote materials with high attention to detail, and oversee fabrication and installation Maintain strong client communication throughout entire design and installation process Fully engage with and understand the interior design and construction process Work within a multitude of existing branding guidelines at once Effectively oversee production and installation of multiple projects Accountable to Studio Director

About You

Qualifications:

Graduate or bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, or related field from an accredited college or university8+ years of professional experience in a graphic or environmental graphic design roleAdvanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)High proficiency in a 3D modeling software, including but not limited to AutoCAD, SketchUp, RhinoAdvanced graphic and verbal presentation skills, including hand sketching, requiredExperience in specifying material for various substrate applications and knowledge of fabrication methods

Started in 2013, Pophouse is a full-scope design studio focused on the built environment. Located in Detroit, Michigan, we work on both commercial and residential projects with a specialty in workplace, hospitality, and retail as well as home office design. Our team of designers and strategists work to positively impact people through interior, industrial, and environmental graphic design.

Leveraging industry research and business intelligence, we begin every project with a meaningful strategy that informs our design narrative. The design narrative is then carried through every aspect of the project including finishes, space plans, custom furniture, branding, wayfinding, signage, and artwork to transform the space into one that highlights culture, increases productivity, and optimizes business outcomes.
