About the role

The Senior Enterprise Commercial Architect – Patient Services will ensure that common architecture decisions support both business and IT strategy and that architectures delivered are compliant with relevant AZ architecture standards, blueprints, business analysis and roadmaps.

As an Enterprise Architect, the role will manage strategic planning typically over the 1-5 year horizon.

The role will be accountable for the development of architecture standards, roadmaps (1-5 years) and blueprints for one or more architecture focus areas.

The role will understand implications of architecture requirements to ‘As-Is’ architectures and define/update ‘To-Be’ architectures applying AZ architecture guiding principles.

The Enterprise Architect will also support Alexion Patient Services solution development efforts originating from portfolios, participate in and/or lead IT initiatives, domain groups and provide active guidance for better planning and decision making.

The role will provide Information Technology architectural expertise and technical direction to system development and integration projects.

The Senior Enterprise Commercial Architect – Patient Services has accountability for analyzing the business and creation, stewardship, and management of the Patient Services technical architecture, application landscape and business capability roadmap. The scope includes all patient services and cross functional capabilities that impact Patient Services applications, data and integration. This would include domains such as Salesforce Health Cloud, Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault, data and AI.

Typical Accountabilities

Responsible for the IT Strategy & Capability Roadmaps development within the Patient Services value chain area.

Developing Reference IT Architectures for Patient Services value chain area.

Develop relationships with Strategic Vendors – Aligning their roadmaps to Alexion's transformation journey.

Participate in Architecture Assessments & Reviews either as Lead Reviewing Architect or as a domain specialist in the review team.

Work with the business to understand business requirements and bring the right technology solution for it.

Contribute to the development of Architecture Capability within IT, by detailing and sharing knowledge and standard methodologies with peer Architects.

Maintain a view of the current and future state architecture within a defined architecture focus area.

Work on key strategic transformation projects and drive the IT Strategy & architectures for these projects.

Lead and/or provide active participation in Enterprise domain teams and working groups applicable to domain accountability.

Partners with project managers, business analysts, and solution engineers to create solutions that are aligned to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles, and leverage common solutions and services.

Works with Business Analysis and Solution Engineering functions and supports functional & technical requirements management, including driving software selection processes.

Ensures that architectures and designs are appropriately robust and address business, application, data, information, and infrastructure architectural requirements.

Accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned to AstraZeneca’s Enterprise Architecture, in support of a given portfolio.

Contributes to project and service teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of standard architectural components.

Works with third-party suppliers as required and contributes to the creation of local or functional design documents.

Contributes to the development of the Architecture Capability within Information Services, by documenting and sharing knowledge and best practices with peer Architects.

Essential requirements

Minimum 6 years of IT experience in Patient Services/Commercial application areas and 10 years of exposure to IT operations and deploying large-scale global solutions.

Strong experience in Veeva CRM, Salesforce.com Veeva Vault or similar platforms.

Experience in developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers.

Strong experience in Salesforce Health Cloud and Veeva or similar platforms.

Experience producing application strategies/road maps for a global enterprise in their focused architecture domain.

Experience with rationalization, consolidation, and integration across business domains.

Experience with large Justification phase work - product evaluation, business case formulation.

Experience developing and influencing business strategies with multi-functional team impact.

Experience developing and leading innovative solutions, blueprints, and standards for solution design.

Validated experience of leading change and challenging approaches/ideas.

Experience working within and developing policies, procedures, and guidelines within a secure, quality, and compliance environment.

Relevant technical degree or equivalent.

Strong networking skills with good internal/external links.

Well-developed communication and facilitation skills.

Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language.

Awareness of developments in the marketplace for domain focus and potential impact to AZ IS.

Desirable skills

Demonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working.

Experience in developing/maturing an architectural practice.

Experience working in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry.

Understanding of SDLC guidelines.

Understanding of corporate compliance and government regulations.
