Senior Engineer Project Manager - solid waste/organics

HDR has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer Project Manager (solid waste/organics) to join our rapidly growing California Solid Waste and Organics team. The primary duties of this position will be to conduct, supervise or direct a multitude of municipal solid waste (MSW) and organics engineering projects. The Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer will function as a lead project designer, engineer of record, and/or project manager on mid-size to large projects and is expected to demonstrate a history of progressive experience.

In the role of Senior Engineer Project Manager , we'll count on you to:

Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff.

Establish client relations and be involved in business development, marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.

Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents and deliverables on schedule.

Implement QA/QC procedures.

Work on a wide variety of MSW or organics related projects including but not limited to compost facilities, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, household hazardous waste facilities, and organics facilities.

Work with a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables including strategic planning, engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules with support from HDR’s national practice leads.

Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate compliance actions.

Will also serve as a consultant and supervisor of waste and organics construction management projects as needed.

Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications.

Delegate and supervise junior engineers on waste and organics design components and staff of professionals and technicians.

Train and mentor personnel as established by strategic plans.

Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree

PMP certification

Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus

Demonstrated experience in project development and execution in the Public and Private sectors.

Experience mentoring junior engineers and EITs.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering 10 years related experience A minimum 5 years project management experience Professional Engineer (PE) license MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus) Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position of $132,825 to $215,625 annually depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location
