Senior Electrical Plant Technician
Key responsibilities include:
Maintenance and Repairs:
Ensure day to day maintenance of plant and equipment to minimize downtime Proactively track and monitor agreed maintenance schedules/job cards to make sure the jobs are completed timeously Provide feedback to Technical Supervisor on Continuous Improvement suggestions and project status Make sure fault rectification complies with legislation in situations where deviations are required, it must be escalated to Technical Supervisor and/or HSE Manager for approval Make sure investigations, evaluations and resolution of problems are identified inclusive of Health and Safety for safe working standards Provide information and participate in situational and systemic problem solving as required Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations (SANS 10142) Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem Preventative Maintenance:
Effective execution of planning and administration for efficient preventative maintenance including the ordering of parts and coordinating of contractors HSE:
Apply all HSE safety principles, rules and requirements at all times and escalate any issues or concerns Conduct FSS5 checks to be completed every 4 years for internal compliance Ensure Maintenance HSE processes and procedures are being adhered to by: Ensuring an understanding of Contractor procedures and that it is followed Ensure an understanding of carrying out Hot work and escalate any issues or concerns Ensure an understanding of and adherence to Technical Standard procedures Ensure an understanding of HD Switching. Administration and Training Support training and coaching needs to operation staff where needed Make sure oversight of contractors for the duration of the project Supervisory of Machinery GMR2(7) - Assistant
Internal and External interactions will include:
Internal: Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Quality and Production External: Contractors and Suppliers (machine parts) Professional Experience and Educational Qualifications:
Electrical Trade Test Minimum 5+ years’ experience industrial environment Experience with Siemens S7 programming - Master Drives, Micromaster Drives Experience in instrumentation (heating controllers, thermocouple and 4-20ma) Experience with Profibus communication (advantageous) Experience with Siemens S7 hardware (advantageous); Textile Carding non-woven trade and experience (advantageous) Valid code 8 driver’s license Working Hours:
2 alternating Dayshifts: Monday - Friday
