The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be an Electrical Engineer to assist in developing complex engineering solutions. The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.  Typical test solutions include Optical, In-circuit Test, Boundary Scan, as well as COTS components such as switch systems, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and other related equipment coupled with custom software for performing Environmental Stress Screening as well as testing circuit card assemblies and top-level products.  

The ideal candidate will have an unwavering positive attitude, be highly responsive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and strive to perform high-quality work proactively and efficiently.  This person will consistently demonstrate professionalism in their interactions with all levels of the organization and will routinely go above and beyond expectations in performing their work.  They will have the ability to work independently, while analyzing equipment and conducting experimental tests to establish operating data. This candidate will perform engineering work and applied research, coordinate activities involving the design and development of electronic equipment and devices and prepare engineering sketches and product information documentation. 

This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success.  Organizationally, the role reports to an Engineering Manager in the Avionics Test Engineering organization.  

What You Will Do:

Coordinates and facilitates the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.  Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met.  Prepares engineering sketches or specifications to construct, relocate, or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems.  Prepares documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.  Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met Provides technical mentoring to other junior engineers  

Qualifications You Must Have:

3+ years of experience writing and debugging software that interfaces hardware like embedded systems, microcontrollers, and/or experience working with COTS test equipment.Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer:

Experience with software repositories, such as Subversion. Background in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or SW Engineering.Demonstrated experience using a test automation framework such as NI Test Stand Experience setting up and troubleshooting signal conditioners and data acquisition system hardware and writing test equipment software such as C#, LabView, or equivalent.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
