Your New Role…

CNN is seeking a collaborative and dynamic editor to join our Media news team to work with reporters and editors on a mix of breaking news and specialty reporting.  The job will require an agility to identify and assign critical breaking news reporting and work with our newsgathering Hubs to cover critical Media stories.

As senior editor, you will not just be working on your own stories but guiding the network of shows and digital products on story developments, working with our newsgathering Hubs to ensure reporting is joined together with the best video and imagery to provide our global audience the best story experience whether it be on digital, television or any CNN product.


Your Role Accountabilities…

Oversee stories and coverage across one or two topics simultaneously, making decisions on assignments for editors and reporters, focus and breadth of coverageLead correspondents and talent on story chase, framing and directionAssist in story conception and continuity coverage Edit CNN’s Reliable Sources newsletter.Vet quality of storytelling, sourcing and depth of reporting both in digital and scripting for linearInform network of developments via internal alerts systemResponsible for ensuring video elements are being procured and considered in coverageResponsible for ensuring smooth hand off to continuing coverage team (Evening, AM, Weekend, etc.)

Qualifications & Experience…

8+ years of progressively complex related experience3+ years management experienceCollege degree or equivalent industry experienceAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that is 24/7, 365 days per yearExperience editing fast-moving breaking newsA clear understanding of style and grammarInterest in media and media storiesExperience helping writers frame storiesAt least 4 years of editorial experience
