Florida Atlantic University is seeking a highly experienced fundraising leader to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan for the Schmidt College of Medicine, cultivate major donor relationships, and ensure that the College meets its fundraising goals through various initiatives such as comprehensive campaigns, annual giving, and planned giving. This position will serve as a key strategic advisor to the dean and senior leadership of the College of Medicine on fundraising matters.The Schmidt College of Medicine is one of 158 accredited medical schools in the U.S. and the only such school in Palm Beach County. With more than 95 full- and part-time faculty and more than 1,300 affiliate faculty, the college matriculates up to 80 medical students annually with plans for future expansion.The College’s strength lies in its exceptional faculty, vibrant medical and research communities, and enriching medical and graduate student experiences. Summary of Responsibilities: + Develop and implement comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for individual major and principal gift prospects assigned. Work both independently and in concert with Institutional Advancement colleagues to implement strategies leading to direct solicitation of gifts of $100,000 and more. + Build a strong pipeline of alumni and other prospects to expand the portfolio of qualified prospects for gifts of $100,000 and more. + Develop solicitation and closure strategies of major gifts aligned with the College of Medicine and University fundraising priorities and campaigns, measured against the attainment of personal metrics associated with the position. + Collaborate with the Dean, department chairs, and faculty to identify funding priorities, assess relevance and feasibility for proposed project/priority, and develop and manage comprehensive strategies to secure gifts for selected priorities. + Partner with Institutional Advancement’s Gift Planning Office to devise an overall strategy for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned gift donors. + In concert with Institutional Advancement colleagues, oversee the preparation of necessary materials, including concept papers, funding proposals, and briefings for FAU leadership and board members when necessary, and schedule stewardship reports for all assigned prospects. + Partner with the Donor Relations Office to ensure appropriate stewardship is provided to donors on existing endowment and current-use funds. + Facilitate effective communication between the College of Medicine and the Division of Institutional Advancement. + Manage and directly participate in all functions aligned with donor-related cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events at the College of Medicine (the signature annual event is the White Coats-4-Care fundraising program). + Participate in signature events at the University and in the community that provide opportunities for strategic engagement with prospects and donors. + Manage the development/fundraising function of the College of Medicine Advisory Board; act as a liaison to the Board and to the Office of Institutional Advancement on policies, procedures, and approvals. + In conjunction with the College’s scholarship office, oversee that all donor outcomes related to scholarships such as thank you notes, event attendance, and in-person visits, are executed in a timely manner. + Participate in College of Medicine executive leadership meetings. + Collaborate with and may supervise other development, special events, and community engagement colleagues in the College of Medicine.
