Our Software Development team architects, develops, tests and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model application, a state-of-the-art engineering software tool running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation and end-to-end communication system performance analysis of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.
As a Senior Dev Ops Developer, the selected candidate will help design, implement, and manage scalable Azure cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions that support the software development team. The Dev Ops Developer will work to Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines within a GitLab environment, leveraging technologies such as Artifactory (JFRog), gradle, CMake, etc... and implement and manage containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes. Responsibilities also include monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing cloud and on-premises environments for security, performance, and cost efficiency.Main ResponsibilitiesSupport the software development of the System Model suite, to improve its fitness as an operational production engine for business applications running on an HPC infrastructure, within varied software development environments including C++, GO, Java, Python, and MATLAB;Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of softwareManage and optimize cloud infrastructureImplement infrastructure as code (IaC) principles for provisioning and configuration managementCollaborate with development teams to improve code quality and deployment processesMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysisImplement and maintain security measures through risk assessment and vulnerability managementDevelop and maintain documentation for processes, tools, and systemsEducation and Experience Required5+ years professional experienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldExperience in some of the following languages:  Python, JavaScript, Bash, C/C++, GolangExperience in some of the following build tools: Gradle, Maven, CMake, Go, NPM Experience with CI/CD best practices including knowledge of some of these technologies: Git, GitLab, SonarQube, Artifactory and JFrogExperience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes and HelmExperience with Cloud deployments on AzureExperience with agile development Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Creative problem-solver with thorough attention to detail;Highly collaborative team-player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.Excellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation. Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources.An aptitude for and interest in complex technology;Fluent in English, written and oral. French is an asset.
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
