**JOB SUMMARY**
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Designer who thrives in a collaborative environment to join our award-winning in-house design team. Someone to consistently deliver excellence, exhibit professionalism and is passionate about what we do and the value our team brings to its clients. We are brand experts and will ensure that the brand is represented correctly in everything we do and serve as brand ambassadors systemwide.
Senior Designers are responsible for establishing the conceptual and stylistic direction for design materials and consistent execution within the brand guidelines. Excellent visual design skills are a must, including layout, typography, color theory, and composition. You will collaborate with the Corporate Communication team and internal clients to develop compelling designs that effectively communicate our values and innovative, technical solutions that support the brand. You will provide creative cost-effective solutions for digital, print, display, presentation, web, and special project requests. The ideal candidate will work well with senior level executives, account executives and copywriters to develop materials and present concepts to clients. Experience presenting to/interacting with c-suite a plus.
Hybrid working – In office 3 days per week or as scheduled /requested. Subject to change.
**MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
Design and provide art direction for a wide spectrum of marketing and brand touch points: social and video graphics; infographics, event materials, print and digital advertising, print collateral, environmental and large format display, wayfinding, swag, photography, motion graphics, presentation formatting, and much more. You’ll need an eye for consistency, precision and systems-thinking, and a healthy dash of experimentation and ahead-of-trend thinking.
+ Design, layout, and production of materials (60%)
+ Present concepts to clients for approval (20%)
+ Manage 3 rd party vendors internal and external (10%)
+ Time management and billing (10%)
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
+ BA or similar degree in graphic design or similar creative field from accredited college required
+ 5 + years working on a production oriented creative services team, advertising agency, marketing/PR firm or in-house agency.
+ Expert in the Adobe Creative Suite, with an understanding of graphic/web design principles and current web technologies (HTML, CSS) and presentation design (PowerPoint, Keynote). Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Strong design portfolio required.
+ Experience creating social and motion graphics preferred.
+ Experience collaborating with photo, video, web, and print teams; experience and/or exposure to creative directing photo and video shoots a plus.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work within project scope.
+ Able to own a project from start to finish, working autonomously, but welcoming feedback and collaboration.
+ Strong customer focused creative solutions, proactive problem solving, project management, and organizational skills.
+ Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in graphic design, and presentation techniques.
+ Prepare visually compelling client presentations that engage and inform for meetings, events, and campaigns.
+ Maintain brand standards, templates, and asset libraries to ensure consistent and cohesive visual communication across projects and platforms.
+ Exhibit Our SO Values and respectful of others.
+ Hands-on knowledge of the printing process is a plus.
+ Knowledge of Southern Company visual system and brand guidelines
+ Participate in Corporate Communication department meetings and serve on work teams as requested.
