Purpose of Role:

ESCO is seeking innovative engineers to join our Manila Engineering Design Team. This Design Engineer role involves supporting the engineering group globally in expanding product design capacity. The successful candidate will utilize their creativity to develop innovative solutions that align with ESCO's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

Generate innovative ideas and product solutions to deliver designs that meet quality and performance targets.

Engage in brainstorming sessions and design reviews to refine and optimize product concepts.

Develop detailed design and drawing specifications for ESCO Capital products such as excavator buckets, loaders, LHDs, face shovels, and truck trays, ensuring that all fabrication standards and requirements are met, including welding and bending specifications.

Design Conceptualization and Analysis:

Develop new concepts in 3D CAD and assess their effectiveness using computational methods and simulation software.

Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to predict product performance. Document and apply learnings to future designs.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the Global Product Engineering team, Manila Engineering team, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers in design conceptualization, trials, and lab testing.

Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, including the ESCO fabrication shop, to ensure that products meet quality, material specifications, schedule, and budget requirements.

Provide technical support and guidance to the fabrication team to resolve any engineering design-related issues.

Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with engineering design and fabrication standards.

Continuous Improvement:

Utilize standard development processes and work practices.

Identify and implement opportunities for continuous process improvement.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to enhance product quality and reliability.

Conduct safety assessments and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.


Key Competencies:

Innovation and Creativity: Ability to think outside the box and generate innovative ideas and product solutions. Develop creative approaches to design challenges, ensuring products meet quality and performance targets.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using 3D CAD software for developing detailed design concepts. Experience with computational methods and simulation software such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Analytical Skills: Strong skills in design conceptualization and analysis. Ability to assess the effectiveness of new design concepts using computational tools and simulation software. Documenting and leveraging learnings from analysis to improve future designs.

Problem-Solving: Ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions. Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems and develop robust solutions.

Project Management: Ability to manage projects effectively, ensuring that products meet quality requirements and are completed on schedule. Coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or a related field. Strong academic foundation in engineering principles and practices.

Experience: At least 4 years of design experience in the mining or construction industry. Proven track record in new product development and engineering analysis.

Certifications/Licenses:  Registered Mechanical Engineer or any related field is a plus.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: in complex 3D parametric CAD software (NX preferred). Experience with engineering software and analysis tools such as Agile PLM or Team Center, FEA, and Magma Simulation.
