Role overview:
This position requires a candidate with significant experience in markets and trade execution and should demonstrate a passion for financial markets.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
Monitors equity, fixed income, money market, commodity and currency markets.Receives buying and selling orders for implementation & execution.Determines, implements, and adopts appropriate tactics to implement orders and ensures equitable allocation of trades between portfolio managers.Provides support function in all areas of transaction execution.Maintains communication with local and international stock brokers.Performs market and investment opportunity analysis.Provides input to the business with financial market news, corporate action announcements and general economic environmentAssist with and support our digital direct offering to clients through deal execution and content management.Processing of off-market deals and reporting to administrators.These responsibilities offer an overview of the role and are not confined or restricted solely to what is listed.
Qualifications and Experience required:
Relevant tertiary qualification.At least 3 years relevant Trading experience.JSE/RPE trading exams would be beneficial.Trades in equity, fixed income, commodity, money and currency markets. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.ResponsibilitiesCustomer Relationship Management / Account ManagementDevelop and implement a relationship management plan for existing customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues. Collect feedback from identified customers or customer segments to ensure their needs are met, providing themes, summary analyses, and recommendations for changes based on customer input.
Customer Needs ClarificationSet clear objectives for each sales call; develop and make presentations that are tailored to the known interests, needs, issues, and concerns of decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization; gather and analyze relevant information; and gain agreement to a statement of customer requirements.
Sell Customer PropositionsConfigure a complex product-and-services solution and associated contractual terms that meet the customer's mid- to long-term needs, taking input from relevant internal specialists. Present the solution to customer representatives and negotiate agreement within a predefined range of commercial parameters, or, alternately, review sales proposals from team members and authorize those that deviate from standard terms, escalating issues to senior management where appropriate.
Treasury and TradingDeal on a medium scale by building material risk positions and managing more junior dealers or traders. Develop and maintain important client relationships in order to ensure profitability and identify future market opportunities.
Operations ManagementSupervise others working within established operational systems.
Financial Products DevelopmentDefine, deliver, and adapt specialized financial products that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
Solutions AnalysisAnalyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
Data Collection and AnalysisConduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Operational ComplianceMaintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.
Personal Capability BuildingDevelop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
