Senior Data Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team.

 

Location: Work from home/ local Kier office

Contract: Permanent, Full time 37.5 Hours Per Week 

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per year

 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be working within the Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team, supporting them in leading the development, optimisation, and maintenance of the data platform. 

The primary responsibility of the role will be to lead the design, build, and maintenance of robust data pipelines and workflows using Microsoft Azure's data services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics, including the line management of data engineer resources in the team.

Your day to day as a Senior Data Engineer will include:

Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance data architectures using Azure technologies. Develop, deploy, and manage ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory to ingest and transform data from various sources. Utilise Azure Databricks to perform data processing, analytics, and machine learning model deployment. Optimize data storage, retrieval, and analytical capabilities to support business intelligence and reporting needs Collaborate with data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Data Engineer is great for you if:

Proven expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics and Medallion architecture. A recognised Microsoft Qualification relevant to this role is a must. Strong proficiency in SQL and Python. Strong understanding of Star and Snowflake schema design principles.
