We are looking for a Senior Credit Risk Analyst. This role reports to the Snr Manager of Global Risk Management under the Chief Risk Officer and will be responsible for the enhancement of AES’ Credit Risk Framework and Control function. A key aspect of this position is a commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of Credit risk reporting, policy, approval processes and technology use. 

The position collaborates with Senior Leadership and partners closely with business-level Risk Directors and Commercial, Digital and Finance teams. This is an exciting role with leadership opportunities and a significant opportunity to make an impact!

Main Responsibilities

Helps lead the development, tracking and evaluation of credit risk and liquidity metrics across the organization.Support the Global Commercial and Credit risk team’s need for counterparty credit support, including defining and implementing best practices.Monitor credit exposure and related credit support. Liaise with Treasury to issue collateral.Liaise with Market Risk Analytics around complex structures and exposure analytics.Implement an enhanced Credit Risk Policy for the Firm, and work with specialized business units to adopt the policy and procedures locally.Conduct thorough analysis of financials statements and perform assessments of counterparties with large exposure for various businesses globally.Refine and implement a Potential Future Exposure framework to proactively manage Credit Risk.Work with legal to review underlying agreements, including ISDA, PPAs or similar documents.Develop less experienced team members and be a leader on the team.Respond timely to ad-hoc analysis requests from the Origination, Finance, Legal and Local Risk teams.Work with the ETRM and Reporting & Analytics team to organize credit data and develop credit reporting.Annually and as required support the Accounting and Finance teams with routine audits.Identify areas of improvement for the credit risk team and propose solutions for management consideration.Be a change agent for data-driven commercial decisions and analytics across the enterprise, collaborating with teams across AES.

Experience and Skills

Experience of 6+ years in the energy industry in the credit space.Familiarity with an Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) system such as Allegro.Familiarity and prior experience with financial markets, products, pricing models, credit risk, and market risk.Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, driving consensus, and influencing outcomes.Team player that can think clearly and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to build good working relationships with key stakeholders and independently work with the front office.Knowledge of power markets including the underlying agreements (ISDA, PPA, etc.).An understanding of MPE, PFE, VaR, stress-reporting and other risk measures.Understanding of credit risk management, portfolio theory, principles, and measurement concepts including Value-at-Risk, Cash Flow-at-Risk, and Back Testing analysis.Flexible and adaptable commercial agility; ability to reorder critical analysis projects based on new commercial requirements, under tight deadlines and sometimes changing requirements.Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

Degree in Finance, Economics, or other business related field.Advanced degree and/or certifications in an analytic discipline and data analysis preferred.
