The role
As a Senior Cost Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be involved in the planning, analysis and forecasting for packages of work within our Nuclear Defence Support programme. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for securing required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes allowing for efficient management of projects to ensure on-time completion according to specification and within budgeted costs, amongst assisting in Cavendish meeting set strategic objectives. 

 

Develop, implement and maintain the Project Baseline Budgets including Control Account Plans/Responsibility Assignment Matrix and WBS Dictionary (SOW). Responsible for the monitor, control and validation of project’s accruals and commitments and the control of resource and financial forecast data. Responsible for the control of cost risk budget and drawdown and input into the risk management process. Responsible for the control of financial change management on the project and assurance of alignment with the business/contractual requirements. Provision of internal and external financial performance & cost reports including earned value and variation analysis.

 

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements based at our Warrington hub.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Cost Specialist

Significant experience of applying budgeting & cost control in a regulated industry environment Awareness of various contracting methodologies (e.g. NEC4) including resolution of claims and disputes Previous experience of supporting more junior team members in a cost estimating, cost engineering or project controls environment Knowledge of Earned Value Management  Awareness of Estimating types and application  Proficient user of MS packages, particularly Excel

 

Qualifications for the Senior Cost Specialist 

HND level qualification (or equivalent) in cost engineering or quantity surveying, ECITB QCF Level 5 Diploma in Cost Engineering (Cost Control) Professional qualification and membership, such as APM, ACostE, RICS or equivalent
