About the Role: Global regulatory risk newswire MLex is seeking a Senior Correspondent for its Brussels bureau. This is an opportunity for a seasoned reporter to dive deep into stories about competition. The beat involves coverage of regulation and litigation in the world of mergers, antitrust and state aid in the EU. MLex seeks to get ahead of the procedural story through deep-dive analyses of legislation to anticipate where regulatory problems may lie. It’s a high-pressure beat in which there’s an expectation you’ll break market-moving news while offering the forward-looking analysis that helps inform decision-makers. Responsibilities: + Report on EU competition policy. + Break exclusive news and write insightful analysis. + Write quickly and effectively in both newswire and commentary formats. + Demonstrate deep knowledge of the EU regulatory environment. + Maintain a broad network of sources across EU regulators, industry, and law firms. + Collaborate with and mentor reporters. + Write clearly and concisely in fluent English. Proficiency in another European language, particularly Spanish or Italian, is advantageous. Qualifications: + Proven reporting experience in EU competition policy. + Track record of breaking exclusive news and writing impactful analysis. + Ability to write with speed and flair. + In-depth understanding of the EU regulatory landscape. + Strong news judgment and a wide network of sources. + Excellent interpersonal skills for mentoring and collaboration. + Fluent in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus.
