Senior Corporate Accountant

Position Summary

The Corporate Accounting Senior will primarily be responsible for the corporate and financing activities of the Company, including general & administrative (G&A) expense management, ASC 842 Leases, equity-based compensation, debt activity and derivative instruments.

This position will report to the Corporate Accounting Supervisor and is in downtown Houston, TX.

Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

Assist in the G&A expense management process, including assisting management with actuals versus budget variances, maintaining applicable software and monitoring budget and forecasting deadlinesMaintain ASC 842 Leases compliance, including maintaining a central contract depository, analyzing executed contracts, facilitating activity within lease management software, recording journal entries and preparing associated financial statement disclosuresMaintain equity-based compensation compliance, including reviewing award agreements, reviewing performance unit third party valuation analysis, facilitating activity within equity software, recording journal entries and preparing associated financial statement disclosuresMaintain all company debt activity, including reviewing debt agreements associated with both term debt and revolving credit facilities, recording all associated journal entries and assisting in special debt transactionsMaintain derivative instrument activity, including recording journal entries associated with mark to market & hedge settlements and preparing associated financial statement disclosuresReview and record all payroll and benefits activitiesPrepare bank reconciliationsPrepare various other period end journal entries, account analysis and account reconciliationsReview variance analysis explaining significant fluctuations in financial statement accountsLead process automation effortsEnsure data is accurately maintained in the accounting and reporting systems, including chart of accounts maintenanceMaintain current understanding of GAAP and SEC guidelinesMaintain SOX controlsAssist in audits, both internal and externalReview, update and draft policy memosParticipate in special projects, as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in AccountingMinimum 3 years accounting experience public accounting experienceProactive and goal-orientedExperience with preparing journal entriesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to communicate effectively within all areas of the CompanyExcel proficientAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications

Big 4 public accounting experienceExperience with Enertia and consolidation software (i.e., Essbase, Planful, OneStream, etc.)Exposure to financial reporting, SEC filings and the external audit processFamiliarity with process automation and data analytic tools (i.e. Sigma, PowerBI, Alteryx)
