Job DescriptionAs a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical and process controls portions of new construction projects as well as value-engineering and optimizing existing plants with updated process control. You will program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, SLC 500/505, CompactLogix) and provide electrical design through commissioning. This role includes 20% travel.
ResponsibilitiesEffectively plan and execute installation and commissioning of new systems.Generate weekly status reports for projects throughout the duration of the deployment for process stakeholders to review.Use, develop, and update Engineering Standards to current engineering best practices.Perform all tasks in compliance with company standards.Partner with site leadership to develop, implement, and track Key Performance Indicators for all functions to further foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.Deploy and manage a centralized data historian for all plants on the controls network, and identify and generate plant-based KPIs to report on monthly.Essential SkillsProject managementElectrical designCommissioningPLC programming (Allen-Bradley)Controls engineeringMaterial handlingSpray dryingPiping systemsConveyorsProcess improvementAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degree2-5 years (10+ preferred) relative Controls/PLC programming experienceManufacturing experience in a related industry for continuous manufacturing life cycle (e.g., bulk material handling with conveyors)Self-starter, highly motivated, and reliableExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience in core technologies: drying, distillation, pneumatic conveying, fermentation, rotating equipment, heat transfer, general plant utilities (steam, compressed air)Knowledge and/or experience in process excellence and performance improvement tools, techniques, and roadmaps such as Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma belts, Kaizen, Process mapping, waste reduction, etc.Experience in coaching and influencing senior leaders; collaboration across various levels of the organization and reaching alignment on goals, targets, etc.Ability to work in hot conditions and occasionally dusty environmentsKnowledge of ISA electrical diagrams, and general understanding of NFPA 70E standards and requirementsWork Environment
The work environment involves an 8-5 office schedule, with regular visits to the manufacturing floor to help drive projects and process improvements. There is a 20% travel requirement to other company sites. The manufacturing floor may be hot and dusty at times. Benefits include 2 weeks of vacation, 10 paid holidays, and 6 personal days. This facility is located in Springfield, KY, primarily operating as a warehousing environment with work cells instead of production lines.
