Senior Cloud Architect (AWS)

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Architect with a strong background in AWS to join our dynamic and growing team. You will work within an agile development team.  The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of industry experience in designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure AWS architectures.  We are looking for a team player, critical thinker, and problem solver that enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position is based in the Washington DC area.

What You Will Do:

Design and implement cloud-based solutions using AWS services. Lead architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud. Work closely with development teams to integrate their projects into production AWS environments and ensure their ongoing support once there. Develop and maintain AWS cloud architecture documentation. Ensure architectural designs are compliant with industry best practices and standards. Conduct architectural reviews and present recommendations for system improvements. Provide technical leadership in the resolution of complex, high-impact technical issues.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a focus on AWS. Strong knowledge of core AWS services, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and RDS. Experience with architecting, designing, and implementing cloud-based and/or cloud-native solutions. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of cloud computing technology and infrastructure as well as experience designing and migrating applications to the cloud. Knowledge of networking and security architecture within AWS. Proficiency in a wide range of AWS services beyond the core offerings, such as AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, AWS Redshift, and AWS Athena. Familiarity with serverless architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible. Understanding of DevOps principles and Agile methodologies. Deep understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including experience with AWS security tools and features, and the ability to design AWS environments that meet compliance policies and security standards. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner. Experience working on Agile development teams. Excellent communication skills. Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude. Attention to detail.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Senior Program Manager.

Salary Range: $160,000-180,000
