Senior Claim Examiner-Westchester Casualty

Westchester Casualty is seeking a claims professional responsible for managing and adjusting claims while ensuring a high level of customer service and technical claim file quality.


Responsibilities:

Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, claimant, broker in the adjustment of small business casualty, and specialty risks. Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions, as warranted, under direction of supervisor and coverage unit. Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages. Directs and closely monitors assignments to experts and defense counsel. Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company. Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor. Reports to reinsurers and facilitates the prompt collection of reinsurance on those matters where they are accountable. Travels to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary. 0-2  years casualty claim handling or legal experience. 4 year college degree. Ability to handle demanding caseload of claims and provide outstanding customer service.Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills.Capable of dealing with highly visible and demanding customers.Ability to work with TPAs, attorneys, and agents in a professional mannerShould have technical competence in the handling of casualty claims. Knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, and procedures Customer focus – responsive with an appropriate sense of urgency. Strong Communication Skills - including the ability to listen effectively; to confidently and diplomatically express opinions and voice concerns   with other team members; and to present superior written communication to varied audiences. Excellent Interpersonal Skills:  Ability to establish trust and effective working relationships with others on an external and internal basis.Ability to work collaboratively, independently and as part of a team. Technically proficient.

The pay range for the role is $58,200 to $98,900. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
