Senior Claim Examiner-Med Risk (Hybrid)

Chubb is seeking a Senior Claim Specialist for our Medical Risk LTC team. The Medical Risk Team provides claim handling with regard to skilled nursing and other skilled healthcare facilities nationwide.  This is an individual contributor role responsible for all aspects of claim handling including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation and settlement or trial strategies.  This position will require some travel, as well as coordination among both internal and external business partners.  You will represent the company at meetings with management and business partners, as well as at mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences and trials. The Senior Claim Specialist will report to the AVP of Medical Risk Claims. 

This is a hybrid opportunity, 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

 Position Responsibilities:

Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker and TPA in the adjustment of Medical Risk claims. Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims. Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions, as warranted, under direction of supervisor and coverage unit. Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages. Directs and closely monitors assignments to experts and defense counsel. Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company. Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes. Interacts with business partners, insureds and directly with claimants and counsel. Travels to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary. Minimum of 4 years of casualty claims handling experience; healthcare/medical risk liability preferred.Law degree or equivalent business experience strongly preferred.Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; and an ability to deal with customers and business partners in a professional manner.Ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service to a sophisticated client base.Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of complex issues.Demonstrated strong relational skills particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations.

The pay range for the role is $71,500 to $115,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
