Senior Category Manager Meijer/ SpartanNash

 

The Senior Category Manager will serve as the ambassador for the F&B Category Growth Plan and is responsible for driving category management principles through the application of strong, proactive data analytics and consumer/shopper insights. The Senior Manager will provide compelling presentations and other information in support of category and brand growth goals. This person will own the category strategy at SpartanNash and Meijer and is accountable for developing relationships with key stakeholders at each of the accounts.

 

Accountability

Work closely with the sales counterparts on customer category strategies to grow the category and Danone performance period over period.Own the development of retailer presentations to drive Category and Danone growth.Become a thought leader and go-to advisor at the customer(s) by developing category stores and executing the category vision to drive category growth.Responsible for building strong relationships with SpartanNash and Meijer Category Managers.Own and communicate the assortment and shelving strategies to SpartanNash and Meijer Category Managers.Partner with SpartanNash and Meijer buyers to influence strategy for each category.Proactively Identify insights utilizing SpartanNash and Meijer Shopper Dunnhumby data and formulate recommendations that will maximize Danone and overall category profitability via interpretation of consumer and customer data.Leverage strong working knowledge and execution of shelving standards and software tools (JDA/Apollo), Syndicated Data (Circana), and shopper/panel data (Dunnhumby).Influence internal and external stakeholders by effectively interpreting insights and having the ability to communicate the key points or story in a way that can be understood by intended audience.As Category Captain of Yogurt and Aseptic Milk Categories at Meijer responsible for writing Meijer PlanogramsProactively educate the customer and sales team on consumer and category insights, along with actionable recommendationsDefine customer-specific category Planograms (if Captain/Advisor); look for opportunities to influence the customer (if not captain/advisor)25% travel required

The base compensation range for this position is $125,000-160,000 commensurate with experience. 4 year College degree in Business or a related field5-7+ years previous experience in category management within CPG industry4+ Sales Analytics or Category ManagementPrior experience managing relationships with retailer partners preferredExpert in syndicated data and space management required.Proficient in space planning tools and data (JDA/Apollo)Proficient in panel data and marketplace reporting tools (Kantar, Mintel, Circana, Dunnhumby.)Sales presentation development/preparation experienceStrong presentation and communication skillsExpertise in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc…)Experience interacting with both internal and external customersTeam oriented (ability to connect with and work cohesively with the field sales organization)
