The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring Direct Materials for Catalent’s Cell and Gene Therapy site in Harmans, MD. This position is responsible for maintaining supply of our critical raw materials. You will work to ensure that we are getting the best possible prices for the products we require to support manufacturing. You also will have the opportunity to research potential vendors, negotiate contracts, and support supplier relationships

The role:

Purchase Order Management responsibilities include aligning the forecast with supply chain and global procurement and issuing purchase orders. You will manage open orders with our suppliers and reconcile payments & systems.Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of GMP Direct Materials in compliance with all quality standards.Ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.Provide guidance and support to junior members of the purchasing team.Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods and services. Research and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with vendors.Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

The candidate:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain. Preferably in a matrixed environment within the Biopharma or Cell and Gene industries.Strong negotiation skills.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software (Strong SAP or Oracle JDE system experience preferred).Support Master Data as needed to update (inclusive of but not limited) lead times, pricing, and other important information with the ERP system.Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g. CPSM, CSCP) is preferred.Experience in vendor management and supplier relationship management.

The anticipated salary range for this position in Maryland is $90,000 - $115,000 plus an annual bonus target. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
