Senior Buyer
Overview

Hire Resolve’s Client is seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team in Ottery, Cape Town. The Senior Buyer will oversee the procurement of goods and services, ensuring optimal inventory levels, cost-efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires strong supplier relationship management, analytical skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining smooth procurement operations, particularly in managing international suppliers and adhering to customs and import/export regulations.

Key Responsibilities Supplier Management

Establish and maintain positive relationships with local and international suppliers.

Ensure timely deliveries, quality products, and effective communication with suppliers.

Procurement Operations

Generate purchase orders (POs) based on demand and inventory levels.

Collaborate with various departments to finalize POs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including order updates and changes.

Communicate with suppliers regarding confirmations, changes, and updates.

Notify internal stakeholders about procurement-related matters.

Logistics and Shipping

Coordinate shipping logistics with freight forwarders and carriers.

Ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.

Manage customs clearance processes for international shipments in compliance with regulations.

Facilitate the transfer of goods between locations or departments.

Inventory Management

Monitor inventory levels to maintain appropriate safety stock buffers.

Replenish inventory as needed to avoid shortages.

Cost Optimization

Monitor price fluctuations and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.

Update internal systems with revised pricing information.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.

Supplier Relationship Management

Maintain regular communication with international suppliers to track order status.

Resolve issues or delays in the procurement process.

Collaborate with suppliers to improve supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: Matric (Grade 12) required.

Experience: 3-5 years in a similar role, with a focus on procurement and supplier management.

Skills and Competencies

Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of international trade and procurement regulations.

Analytical Ability: Ability to analyze market trends, supplier performance, and cost-saving opportunities.

Problem-Solving: Skilled in resolving issues such as customs delays, quality control problems, or supplier disputes.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing contracts, POs, shipping documents, and invoices.

Data Management: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement tools; knowledge of Syspro is an advantage.

Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with logistics, planning, and finance teams.

Adaptability: Openness to learning and adopting new procurement strategies and technologies.

Additional Responsibilities

Generate and manage intercompany purchase orders.

Coordinate receipt of goods (Goods Receipt Note/Landed Cost Tracking).

Ensure smooth transfers and inventory movements.
