Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Senior BI Developer within the Nedbank CIB Finance Data team, is to contribute to the success of the team through the analysis, design, specification, implementation and testing of high quality data solutions that meet the business needs and contributes to uninterrupted business as usual by performing operational tasks and servicing ad hoc requests, in addition support and maintain the data warehouse in line with the data model; metadata repository and to provide business intelligence analysis

Job Responsibilities

Deliver projects:

Analyse requirements. Design innovative, high-quality solutions for data sources, reports and dashboards that meet quality criteria according to BI best practises / disruptive methods. Document proposed solutions in required templates.


Develop designed solutions:

Develop test plans and ensure a full testing cycle before code deployments. Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure developed solution is of the required quality. Assist team members where required through-out the project life cycle. Build and maintain excellent client relationships: Ensure good working relationships by maintaining a helpful and professional attitude. Build trust by delivering on commitments as per SLA’s and conduct post-delivery satisfaction surveys.


Deliver business as usual:

Compile & maintain master operational schedule and execute tasks as per agreed SLA’s. Notify appropriate audience in event of failure and take corrective action where appropriate. Service ad-hoc extract and report requests efficiently and effectively by analysing the requirement, designing, and developing the solution and ensuring it is of the required quality. Action administrative ad-hoc requests as per agreed SLA’s Perform maintenance on existing software modules when required with minimal come backs. Document existing own processes and tasks in prescribed templates and store in knowledge repository, following naming standards and quality criteria as per governance framework. Transformation of team and delivery of Innovation / sustainable solutions Conduct formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions. Discuss & share lessons learned during a project. Identify additional areas where information sharing will be beneficial, e.g. try to tie in with development plan and leverage on existing skills within the team Communicate with team to promote reuse of software components within the team. Identify areas of development and training requirements needed to deliver on project work. Grow knowledge-base in depth and breadth of Nedbank CIB processes, systems and products Identify ways of implementing sustainable solutions in the longer term that can replace ad-hoc requests or prevent recurring incidents. Develop new assets through collaboration and working in agile squads and other digital initiatives.


 

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees Preferred Qualification Degree in Information Technology or Business Management, Mathematical/Statistics Honours (Post-graduate) Degree Information Technology, Computer Science  DAMA certification or equivalent Essential Certifications Data Management (DAMA) Certification, Certification/formal training in relevant technology Technical Knowledge Microsoft Office  Microsoft SQL, PL/SQL ETL skills (eg. Abinitio) Process scheduling and server scripting (eg. Control-M, Linux/AIX scripts) Relevant regulatory knowledge  Business writing and communication skills  Type of exposure Built and maintained stakeholder relationships.  Developed and Implemented Communications Strategy  Improved Processes and Culture  Manage internal process.  Managed Relationships  Managed Self  Supported Transformation, Change and continued Improvement.  Minimum Experience Level Min. 7-10 years of experience in Data Warehouse Methodology and Business Analysis. Finance Industry experience an advantage. Experienced at Data Extract / Transform / Load Experienced at Data Models – Schemas / 3rd Normal Forms and Dimensional Modelling Experience with programming e.g. scripting Acceptance of existing development standards and contribution to refine existing standards. Ability to write code and develop solutions based on traditional and innovative methods. Ability to test own work in order to produce work of high quality.
