Job Title: Senior Business Development Manager – Alternative Fuels

Salary/Grade: £85,000+ per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough

Benefits: 

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Up to 31% bonus

Car Allowance - £650pcm  

Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution up to 10%.

Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution.

The opportunity

The Senior Business Development Manager will develop alternative fuels (hydrogen, biofuels, renewables, and other alternative fuels and transport) for our broad range of customer applications. This role will focus on two key markets: US and Europe. Reporting into the Director of Business Development & Incubation, you will be part of a team who are at the forefront of developing new opportunities within the alternative fuels market for Caterpillar.

What you will do: 

Identify and develop new opportunities for Caterpillar to deliver offerings in the alternative fuels value chain. 

Create and execute unique alternative fuels solutions for our customers across our broad range of industries. 

Develop scalable solutions which can be leveraged across multiple customers. 

Develop new business venture ideas and oversee deployment through our incubation teams and go-to-market channel partners. 

Identify alternative fuels ecosystem partners to deliver integrated solutions. 

Collaborate with internal and external suppliers. 

Create commercial structures to deliver positive economic outcomes for Caterpillar and our ecosystem partners. 

Provide technical and commercial requirements for successful solution deployments. 

Evaluate, develop and manage participation in Hydrogen hubs or alternative fuel supply development. 

Market knowledge of fuels, or alternative fuels producers and suppliers 

What you will have: 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline or progressive experience in a related field.

Customer Focus - Level Working Knowledge:   

Has a strong background in hydrogen, refining, or petrochemicals.

Market knowledge of fuels, or alternative fuels producers and suppliers. 

Delivers results, works independently, influences others (both internally and externally).

Data Gathering & Analysis - Level Extensive Experience:   

Advises on advanced data gathering and analysis methodologies and technologies.  

Oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the organization.

Documents sources and validates the accuracy of data

Evaluates best practices of data gathering and analysis within the industry.

Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process.  

Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas.

Researches the customer's industry and organization before attempting sales calls.  

Discusses issues and considerations regarding current 'value selling' practices and recommends potential improvements.  

Top candidates will also have: 

Experience launching fueling solutions (Build, Own, Operate from commercial and technology perspective) plus overseeing deployment of fuel infrastructure and experience with project management such as working at an EPC.

Understanding the economics of a solution.

Regulatory knowledge of EU and US markets.

Additional Information: 

This position is likely to require up to 50% travel.
