The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining the companies daily financial records/transactions and ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for a company The role requires attention to detail strong organizational skills and proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems

Duties and Responsibilities

Bookkeeping
Recording of Entries into the Accounting System Pastel System
Update Monthly Spreadsheets for all Debit and Credit Entries & Import onto Accounting System
Reconciliation of All Bank Accounts
Process and Manage General Ledger Transactions
Monthly updates on supplier ledgers
Allocation of all Supplier Payments and Produce a Supplier Aged Analysis
Maintain an accurate set of General Ledger Accounts
Prepare Month End up to Trial Balance
Assist the Reconciliation Team with the Stores Banking
Assist the Reconciliation Team with Store Variances
Update and Manage Fixed Asset Registers
Prepare Annual Turnover Figures for Audit Purposes
Prepare Annual PAYE Reconciliation
Prepare Annual Vat Reconciliation
Maintaining accurate financial records by recording all financial transactions including purchases sales receipts and payments
Reconciling bank and credit card statements
Generating and sending invoices processing payments
Reconciling Control Accounts

Payroll Administration
Processing payroll accurately and timeously in line with Payroll payment dates
Maintaining accurate calculation of salaries taxes and deductions and salary adjustments
Extract relevant Payroll reports as required by Financial Manager
Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters

Requirements
Matric Post Matric
Bookkeeping Diploma essential and or bachelor&rsquos degree in accounting/finance or a related field
6 years Experience in bookkeeping and payroll administration
Experience in Retail is essential
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Accounting software
Knowledge of payroll systems and tax regulations
Knowledge and experience in Pastel Compulsory
Knowledge & understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Excellent organisational and time management skills
High level of professionalism
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent team player with strong multitasking abilities
Honest reliable flexible with a strong work ethic
