Senior Banker, Director, South Africa
The Corporate Banking Director / Senior Banker is responsible to drive long-term relationships with large South African Corporate clients and enhance further business momentum by originating business across Citi’s entire product set. This will be achieved by: + Working closely with Citi’s Product and Risk partners to deliver the Citi platform and be the best for our clients + Being viewed internally and externally by clients as a specialist in relevant sectors + Being a strong team player and helping develop the junior talent **Job Background/context:** The Corporate Banking business provides financial advisory services on a wide range of strategic transactions (including capital raising, project & debt financing, risk mitigation, treasury services etc.) for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments worldwide. Corporate Bankers work closely with Citi’s other business units to ensure client access to the full range of products and expertise within the organisation. Corporate Bankers build and grow Citi’s institutional long-term relationships with clients. They orchestrate the delivery of Citi's vast global product platform and develop integrated financing strategies, by acting as a primary point of contact through which our clients utilize Citi’s extensive capabilities around the world. Through these efforts, our bankers address our client's most complex global banking needs, helping them succeed. **Key Responsibilities:** + Build and maintain strong relationships with large corporate clients of Citibank in South Africa across various sectors including Telecom, Metals & Mining, Industrial, FMCG, Healthcare etc. + Understand clients’ business fundamentals and their strategic priorities; structure & deliver corporate finance solutions. + Grow revenue from the portfolio of relationships - having helped dimension and budget the full opportunity + Implement calling plans to ensure business development is pursued across the client base + Market and execute deals using a coordinated approach to prospecting strategy with relevant Product and IB Seniors + Liaise with Citi’s network to develop internal and external relationships globally + Keep up-to-date on developments in the core product set to explore and refer opportunities + Work with Risk and Credit Underwriting teams to manage the portfolio and individual client risk + Lead the deal teams in business development and/or execution activities **Development Value:** + Exposure to Senior Management within our South Africa Franchise and across Corporate Banking in MEA + Direct interaction with and full responsibility for clients and client revenue + Opportunity to develop world-class broad-based banking and client relationship skills + Opportunity to work with large SA Corporates in a Global & Complex organisation with a large customer base and in a challenging and changing business environment. + Exposure to an open and multicultural working environment **Knowledge/Experience:** + Prior experience in Corporate & Investment Banking + Extensive level of experience in financial services, and in serving large and complex clients + Demonstrated leadership, organizational, negotiation, presentation sales, client-relationship building, analytical and credit skills + Demonstrated working knowledge of a broad spectrum of products (financing, capital markets, derivatives, cash management, trade finance and securities services) and how they meet client needs. + Credit trained, used to taking a lead role in establishing the creditworthiness of counterparties and assessing risk in transactions + Experienced at client planning and coordinating input from multiple product areas + Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication **Education:** + Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience + MBA or Master's Degree in business preferred **Skills:** + Team Player + Analytical + Organizational + Proactive + Independent + Interpersonal skills + Verbal and written communication **Competencies:** + Accounting & Corporate Finance + Counterparty credit analysis and risk assessment + Understanding legal documentation such as Loan Agreements and ISDAs + Leadership in team-oriented environment ------------------------------------------------------ **Job Family Group:** Institutional Banking ------------------------------------------------------ **Job Family:** Corporate Banking ------------------------------------------------------ **Time Type:** Full time ------------------------------------------------------ Citi is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
