About the team:
We’re looking for a (Senior) Backend Engineer to join our Operations Platform squad within the Platform tribe, focused on supporting SumUp’s global Operations. Our team is responsible for foundational tools and services that enhance operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and provide robust, adaptable interfaces for product teams.
This role will involve working on key initiatives, such as:
Augmenting and advancing our backoffice APIs Working on internal Access Management structure and auditing Streamlining operational flows to increase efficiencyAs a (Senior) Backend Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of a unified API ecosystem that enables multiple departments to configure and launch new operational use cases autonomously, using flexible business logic.
What you’ll do:
Design, build and maintain backend services integral to dependable and highly available production systems, following SumUp Fleet microservice architecture Design, construct, and upkeep backend services Contribute to shaping a long-term strategy facilitating the invocation of shared business processes by multiple systems, initiated through automations, events, and user interactions Develop high-quality, scalable code adhering to Platform standards and best practices Collaborate with stakeholders to pinpoint pain points and collect feature requests Work closely with Sales, Data, and Software Engineers across Platform and Operations teams
You’ll be great for this position if you have:
4+ years of programming experience, preferably in Golang Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs within a microservice environment Prior experience in building and deploying infra using AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform Experience with SQL & Event driven architecture, specifically working with Postgres and Kafka Understanding of fundamental system architecture, software design principles, data modelling, and API design Collaborative mindset and open to feedback in teamwork settings Demonstrated pride in engineering work and a strong sense of ownership in tasks
