Job Description

My client is a major UK Automotive Manufacturer currently looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer - Exterior hard trims (Roof track and running board components).

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the design, development, testing and introduction of Hard Trims. Operating in an Agile model with cross-functional members within the squad, Lead Engineers will report into the relevant Group Leaders/Engineering Senior Manager and, where delivering on specific vehicle programmes, have an additional matrix report into relevant Agile Groups. The role requires the individual to deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time and lead on the technical content and integrity of specific components and systems across specific programmes

Hard Trims solutions will be delivered on time for Program Integration PointsHard Trims solutions will meet all functional requirements for the committed program gateways

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Deliver the Hard Trims commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System / 3DExperinceDeliver the Hard Trims Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverablesAssist in the Management of Change Requests, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestonesWork on DV and PV test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issuesAssist in the resolution of issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop Hard Trims solutions that meet targetsEnsure all appropriate Jaguar Land Rover standards are met through-out design maturationProvide input into new feature developmentEnsure all programme design solutions meet:Programme targets for cost and weightLegal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification (RMDV) documentationOptical Quality and Premium Consumer Product Audit requirementsKeep all Module documentation up to date including meeting minutesFoundation and Programme Design analysis documentsQuality history and bill of designUndertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Qualifications

Essential:

Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environmentA good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processesBachelor degree or above is compulsory, degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical, Automotive or similar) At least 2 projects engineering development experience.

Desirable:

Previous experience within Hard Trims engineering or programme planning departments(ideally 5 years minimum)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
