Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Medical Affairs, Nutritionals and New Business, the incumbent will set strategy, implement objectives, technically plan and manage the development of programs for our brands including clinical, medical and technical initiatives in the US for Nutritionals. He/she will provide medical guidance and category knowledge to existing and new brand teams. Additionally, he/she will assess potential product plans, provide medical and category expertise for identification, development and support of new product launches, claims and indications by directly interacting in an inclusive team environment with colleagues from Marketing Brand Groups, Clinical Operations, New Business Development, Regulatory Affairs, Consumer Relations and Legal.The incumbent is responsible for developing and managing relationships with and ensuring the active support of leading local and international opinion leaders required for brand development and positioning. Theincumbent will interpret scientific data from the literature and/or from clinical studies to assist in product development strategies, as well as to ensure the accuracy of advertising claims and other promotionalmaterials. 1. Provide the medical and scientific expertise in assessing and interpreting clinical studies and data as well as additional external medical and scientific information which can be translated and used incommercialization activities including development of clinical claims, advertising claims, promotional claims and new product opportunities to support the company’s objectives.2. Strategic planning, guidance and implementation of programs, including clinical development programs, to support and drive the development of claims and new products for existing and new brands.3. Effectively communicate with the marketing/commercialization groups as well as technical groups in identifying scientific insights, educating and influencing non-scientific decision makers regardingbusiness opportunities related to clinical information.4. Provides scientific expertise in designing and interpreting clinical studies and data which can be translated and used in commercialization activities including development of clinical claims, advertising claims, promotional claims and new product opportunities.5. Approves advertising copy and promotional copy from a Medical perspective.6. Awareness of and involvement in understanding scientific category dynamics including different classes of drugs associated with each category, understanding the mechanisms of action, PK/PD profiles,safety and efficacy dimensions as well as unique profile characteristics to contribute to the strategic planning and development in support of existing and new brands.7. Ensure compliance with both the letter and spirit of all laws and regulations. Remains alert to any potential compliance issues that may arise, seeking counsel through proper channels if such issues are identified. In partnership with the Director of Medical Affairs, Nutritionals and New Business, the incumbent will exhibit the creativity, innovation, judgment, and initiative required to deal with the challenges encountered. Must beable to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external prominent and influential medical personnel. Candidate must also be able to succeed in an environment of constantchange and be able to adapt quickly to accommodate such changes. He/she must have the ability to gain customer (internal and external) feedback, understand marketing and strategic planning techniques, and provide medical and scientific data interpretation in the assigned categories. He/she must be able to prioritize and work effectively in a constantly changing environment and to adjust to their work accordingly with direction provided by the Director of Medical Affairs.
