Senior Associate, Actuary
Job Description:

Role

As a Senior Associate, you will help to provide H&W clients a different perspective by offering comprehensive solutions. These services can involve a variety of topics including but not limited to plan design, compliance and reporting services, pricing and employee contribution settings or retiree health care solutions. You will support H&W Benefits Consulting projects, coaches other associates and promotes teamwork.

The Expertise and Skills We’re Looking For

2 -5 years proven experience in benefit plan design, funding and/or administration. Background may encompass either consulting, plan sponsors or vendor organizations.

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Strong Microsoft Office PC skills in Excel and Word

You have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

You’re a leader with self-motivation and determination to succeed

Your strong project management skills

You have a strong aptitude to balance and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment

You have an experience managing contractual provisions, including scope control and managing projects through to conclusion

Collecting and preparing data vital to analyze benefit programs while providing assistance to more senior consultants in analysis of benefit programs

Collecting renewals and assist in the analysis, negotiations, and finalization of renewals

Maintaining organized storage of client documentation (e.g., SPDs, contracts, employee communication)

Assisting in the development of health and welfare program pricing, budgets, employee contributions and premium equivalent rates for self-insured plans

Supporting the negotiation of rates, contractual provisions, and performance guarantees with current benefit vendors

Performing marketing analysis including RFP creation, proposal collection, and vendor comparisons

Assist with vendor selection, performance criteria with the management of new vendors and exiting vendors during implementation process

Applying knowledge regarding the major health plans, administrators, and other vendors available in the marketplace to consulting clients and prospects

Maintaining project plans and status logs with completion times and issue resolutions/decisions

Alerting lead consultant when project timing and scope are not in line with original expectations

Crafting letters, presentations, proposals, charts, and spreadsheets.

Participating as a cooperative, proactive team member in projects involving other associates throughout the practice, group, and region

Mentoring less experienced associates at every opportunity

Sharing information freely and pro-actively. Keep other associates advised of current information, and ensure all relevant information is captured in client documents

The base salary range for this position is $76,000-$144,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
