**Senior Archivist** **_Hybrid_**
The Senior Archivist for the Sisters of Providence Mother Joseph Administrative Center is responsible for selecting, preserving, and making accessible non-current records, in both printed and digital format, and provides access to archival collections in support of the Sisters of Providence religious community and Providence Health. **Essential Functions:**
+ Applies professional archival and records management standards and practices to the preservation, use and management of the archival collections.
+ Performs activities related to the acquisition, appraisal, accessioning, arrangement, description, and disposition of archival material. This position focuses on archival records and personal papers in both analogue and digital formats. Creates finding aids and other archival description to facilitate access to collections.
+ Provides reference services both virtually and on-site. Uses professional judgment and discretion to apply policies and procedures concerning access to information by internal and external researchers.
+ Utilizes and assists with administration and maintenance of archival collection management systems and other software as needed.
+ Initiates acquisition of textual records from Providence Health and Sisters of Providence. Utilizes records retention schedules and applies knowledge of collecting areas to conduct archival appraisal of archival record transfers and acquisitions.
+ Preserves archival materials in appropriate housing, monitors environmental conditions, and plans for security and disaster response.
+ Engages in special events planning, publications such as the archives’ newsletter Past Forward, exhibit preparation and design, and other internal and external outreach activities to promote the history of the Sisters of Providence, and Providence Health.
+ Provides tours of the Archives and makes presentations as necessary to orient others to the mission and history of the Sisters of Providence, Providence Health, sponsored ministries, and the archives and its activities.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Archivist.
**Required qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in History, American Studies or related discipline with knowledge of photograph conservation and history of photographic processes. Or Appropriate combination of work experience and education may be substituted for a degree.
+ 5 years of Archives experience involving administration of photographic and visual resources, preservation, arrangement and description, reference and coordination responsibilities.
+ 3 years of experience with archival database software required. Familiarity with archival preservation standards and reformatting options is required
+ 3 years of Thorough knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications is required.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Current certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists
