Senior Accountant
Job Description: We are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team at a leading manufacturer of innovative lab supplies and instruments. This role requires a skilled individual with manufacturing experience to assist with all aspects of finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The Senior Accountant will play an active role within the Finance team, supporting various functions and contributing to the financial health of the organization. Responsibilities: + Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. + Manage day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and credit card management. + Take ownership of the general ledger, including monthly financial close, expense accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries. + Analyze financial data and present accurate and timely financial reports. + Assist in preparing budgets by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data. + Enhance and develop policies and procedures to improve overall operation and effectiveness. + Manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. + Support strategic financial evaluations of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, and investments. + Monitor fixed assets, including capitalization, disposals, and depreciation calculations. + Provide backup support for bi-weekly payroll runs. + Assist in the calculation of monthly commissions, rebates, and duty drawbacks. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred. + 5-8 years of relevant financial and operational experience. + Experience with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft 365 Business Central. + Advanced skills in Word, Excel (including V-lookups and Pivot Tables), and PowerPoint. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to communicate key data effectively to senior management and the finance team. + Experience with fixed assets systems and knowledge of COGNOS is a plus. + Prior experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment. + Experience with major payroll platforms such as ADP and Paycor. + Ability to support month-end, journal entries, and general ledger functions. + Experience with payroll preparation and processing, including file maintenance for benefits. Work Environment: You will join a close-knit team of five, including the Controller, Staff Accountant, AP Specialist, and AR Specialist. Initially, the position will be onsite during training, transitioning to a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remote. The schedule rotates to allow for some Fridays off. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
