Senior Accountant
Description We are seeking a Senior Accountant with experience in grants to join our nonprofit organization. This role will be responsible for handling federal and county grant invoicing, contract management, bank reconciliations, month-end close, and cost allocations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, the ability to manage complex invoicing processes, and proficiency in Excel. Key Responsibilities Grant Coordination + Prepare and submit federal and county grant invoices accurately and on time. + Ensure proper classification and tracking of deferred revenue. + Allocate administrative costs across multiple grants. Contract Management + Manage 30+ contracts, including nonprofit grants and cost allocations. + Handle complex invoicing and ensure compliance with contract terms. + Assist in budget preparation and tracking. Month-End & Year-End Close + Perform full close, including updating spreadsheets with revenue, fixed assets, and balance sheets. + Reconcile bank accounts (3 accounts). + Maintain schedules for fixed assets and year-end reporting. Financial Reporting & Audit + Prepare and format financial reports in Excel, utilizing advanced formulas. + Assist in audit preparations, including cost allocation and financial statement reviews. + Maintain accurate accounting records and meet all deadlines. Requirements Qualifications + Must have experience in grant accounting, cost allocation, and nonprofit financial management. + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debit/credit concepts and balance sheet reconciliations. + Experience in grant billing and contract management. + Proficiency in Excel (formulas, data formatting, and report downloads). + Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar). + Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. + Willingness to learn, adapt, and work under pressure.
