Our client, a dynamic and growing company in the biotech sector, is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their team in San Diego, CA. If you thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments and have a strong background in accounting, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee all general ledger activities, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliations to maintain clean and accurate financial records.
+ Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal reporting deadlines.
+ Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.
+ Apply ASC 606 standards for revenue recognition and collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate reporting.
+ Track research and development costs, grants, and government-funded expenses to ensure proper classification and reporting.
+ Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and propose actionable solutions for optimization.
+ Work closely with Finance, Operations, and R& D teams to provide financial insights and support managerial decision-making.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA designation strongly preferred.
+ Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
+ Biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry experience is highly desirable.
+ Familiarity with R& D/project-based accounting, including tracking and classifying expenditures.
+ Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle).
+ Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication.
+ In-depth understanding of GAAP and prior knowledge of revenue recognition and cost accounting in the biotech or healthcare industry.
+ Familiarity with grant reporting and compliance requirements is a plus.
