Job Description
Our company is at the forefront of revolutionizing maritime domain awareness by merging unparalleled experience with rapid innovation. We aim to expand coverage, improve awareness, and reduce costs for our customers. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our expanding team. This is a hybrid role, requiring two days onsite in Groton, CT. The position operates on a Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and government regulations.
+ Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support strategic decision-making.
+ Ensure adherence to government contract requirements, including FAR and DFARS regulations, and coordinate with auditors for periodic reviews.
+ Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
+ Review and manage financial aspects of government contracts, including billing, revenue recognition, and contract modifications.
+ Conduct financial analysis to support management decisions, including variance analysis and profitability assessments.
+ Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
+ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and project management, to ensure financial alignment with business objectives.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Unanet or equivalent software such as Costpoint by Delteck.
+ Strong understanding of GAAP.
+ Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment and experience with government contracts.
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of FAR and DFARS regulations.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proven ability to lead and mentor junior accounting staff.
+ Demonstrated experience in ensuring compliance with government contract requirements and managing audits.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with ERP system Unanet or Cost Point or Deltek is a plus.
+ Familiarity with cost accounting principles and practices.
+ High level of integrity and ethical standards.
Work Environment
This role operates in an office setting with a hybrid work model, requiring three days onsite in Groton, CT. The position is part of a growing company with a solid team and offers hybrid flexibility and opportunities for growth.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69
