Description We are in search of a Senior Accountant to join our clients team in the financial services industry based in Omaha, Nebraska. In this role, you will handle intricate accounting functions with minimal guidance, leverage your broad understanding of our business units, and apply your thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles, and practices. Responsibilities: • Analyze and reconcile financial information used by Accountants and Accounting Analysts for preparing entries to accounts. • Examine various financial information and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting requirements. • Prepare projections and determine trends on accounting data to illustrate effects on income and financial condition. • Conduct statistical analysis to identify trends, estimates, and significant changes in financial statements, budgets, or tax returns and draft narrative reports explaining findings. • Identify accounting problems, independently research solutions, form conclusions, and present them to management or appropriate party. • Monitor compliance with statutory accounting principles, generally accepted accounting principles, and company procedures. • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. • Prepare monthly department reports for management and assist with department-wide projects. • Review and provide back-up coverage in preparing premium tax estimated deposits and annual returns, guaranty associations, other state assessments, survey and fees, city taxes, and other miscellaneous state surveys and fees. • Review and provide back-up coverage in reconciling fixed assets and preparing the lease maturity schedule. • Interact with other department members to resolve problems and inquiries and ensure efficient data and information flow. • Utilize skills such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role within the Financial Services industry • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations • Extensive experience with General Ledger and Journal Entries • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and data analysis • Demonstrated experience in Month End Close procedures • Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP financial software packages • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Proven track record in meeting deadlines and working under pressure • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required, a CPA certification is preferred • Must have a strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
