Senior Academic Coordinator, HCII PhD Program

The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral and social sciences. We research how people work, play, and communicate within groups, organizations, and social structures, then we design, create, and evaluate technologies and tools to support human and social activities.

We are seeking a Senior Academic Coordinator to support the PhD academic programs within the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) at the School of Computer Science.

Core responsibilities include:Provides senior level administrative and day-to-day support to faculty and the PhD program.Coordinates and maintains academic administrative systems and processes for the program including gsaudit, student registration, student status updates ICC issues and requests.Coordinates recruiting activities, collect admissions materials, assists with the admissions process.Coordinates annual events: Open House, Orientation, Comm Talks, Town Halls, Appreciation Week, Graduation and others.Coordinates Spring and Fall PhD student evaluation meetings and monitors student academic progress.Provides backup support to the Academic Program Manager.Performs related duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:Ability to provide academic and administrative support.Ability to track, handle and maintain information.Good comfort in working with students and faculty in an academic environment.Ability to have good attention to detail, prioritize work and think critically.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree1-3 years of proven experience within academic program support.Experience with student support services, administrative support and/or higher education is valued.Experience with the MS Office suite of toolsA combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.RequirementsSuccessful background investigation.
