**40127BR** **Extended Job Title:** Senior Academic Advisor **Position Description:** Performs Academic Advising, educational, professional, or other advanced Academic Advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Responsibilities may include assisting in the analysis of special and/or complex problems. May supervise Academic Advisors or other employees. Performance is based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under standard supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. **Requisition ID:** 40127BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Responsible for providing educational guidance and assistance predominantly for graduate students working toward professional and post-professional degrees, including planning schedules and explaining professional graduate curricular requirements + Work with the Assistant Dean to recommend courses and determine appropriate education options depending on career path + Assist Associate Dean in the graduate student admission process + Coordinate with Office of International Affairs for international graduate student requirements + Serve as liaison and foster intentional relationships with other advisors, offices, colleges, and departments + Maintain thorough and accurate records pursuant to university and college guidelines + Assist in coordination of all graduation activities including commencement, reception, and presentation of diplomas + Coordinate the Graduate Comprehensive Exam including organizing dates, times, reviewers, and pertinent communications + Participate in events and activities designed to improve retention, persistence, and recruitment especially for our graduate programs + Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the academic advisement programs goals and objectives + Engage in professional development activities, including but not limited to, memberships in professional organizations, attendance at conferences, workshops, division, and department training sessions + Stay current on changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course change deadlines, important dates, facilities, collegewide initiatives, transfer requirements, and state and federal mandates + Recruit for the college’s accelerated program (ABM), provide guidance, advising, and assist with registration. + Coordinate with the Graduate School and assist with prospective Master of Architecture and Master of Science – Architecture students + Prepare and maintain graduate student orientation materials, workshops, and seminars for the college. + Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to keep accurate, detailed records. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Banner, Xtender, and the ability to multi-task. + Other duties as assigned **Grant Funded?:** No **Minimum Hire Rate:** 18.48 **Pay Basis:** Hourly **Work Location:** Lubbock **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bilingual (Spanish) + Demonstrated ability interacting with students from various backgrounds + Familiarity with architecture and/or professional programs **Department:** Architecture **Required Attachments:** Cover Letter, Professional/Personal References, Resume / CV **Job Type:** Full Time **Job Group:** Academic Support Professionals **Shift:** Day **Required Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree required, plus one year relevant experience. **Does this position work in a research laboratory?:** No **Safety Information:** Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all TTU employees. **Pay Statement:** Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
